Director & DoP
My Final graduate film for my Filmmaking course, I decided to pitch an idea to make a macro, wildlife documentary about soil mites. This idea quickly changed, due to the difficulty of just filming soil mites, and focussed more on the creatures that make up your garden soil and why they are so beneficial and HARMLESS.
Welcome to the bustling world beneath the garden, where soil mites and other tiny insects play an outsized role in keeping the ecosystem alive. Soil Survivors is a visually captivating and character-driven short documentary that introduces audiences to these unsung heroes through whimsical narration and rich macro cinematography. As the bugs speak in their quirky voices, we learn how soil health directly impacts the vitality of our gardens and, by extension, the planet. But when a gardener, trying to do the right thing, uses harmful pesticides, the underground world is thrown into disarray. At once charming and urgent, the film explores the fragile relationship between humans and nature, revealing how even the smallest creatures deserve a place in the story of sustainability.
Director
I pitched and directed this project as I have worked with Bristol Museum and Art Gallery before on projects and have a good relationship with them.
Director
I directed and filmed this client project for Talk Club Charity, this gave me project management and organising experience as we were shooting on location in Weston Super-Mare and had to sort out travel there and back.
Art Department
On this experimental project I worked closely with the camera operator and editor to make VFX with perspective and set design.
DoP
Other life follows a woman as she seeks change from her boring life through an app on her phone. This was filmed on the Sony FX6.
DoP
I was DoP on this student short film made at boomsatsuma studios. I also helped construct the set and set dress as well as helping on sound.
Camera Operator
I used the Black Magic Pocket Pro to record this. This production taught me the importance of filming in a good location for audio and visual purposes.
DoP
This project had me acting and camera operating, this was a real test of my abilities and a great experience to make. I filmed on the Sony Z150 camcorder.
AC
I was Assistant Camera for this Kodak commercial competition where I had the responsibility of loading and unloading the 16mm film, also to measure the distance from the camera sensor to the subject for focusing the dolly shots. This was shot on the Arri SR2 with AZSpectrum HDTap.
